Nothing Phone 3 Leak: Are They Outpacing Apple's iPhone 16?

With nearly a year since the debut of the Nothing Phone 2, the tech world is buzzing with anticipation for the Nothing Phone 3.

Recently, Nothing CEO Carl Pei shared several photos on Twitter, showcasing updates to the Nothing OS user interface.

While these software enhancements garnered interest, sharp-eyed tech enthusiasts at Beebom spotted something even more intriguing: the phone in Pei’s photos might be the upcoming Nothing Phone 3.

Historically, the Nothing Phone lineup — including the Phone 1, Phone 2, and the recent Phone 2a — has featured three buttons: two volume rockers on the left and a power button on the right.

However, the device in Pei's latest photos sports an additional button on the right side, positioned just below the power button.

The function of this new button remains a mystery, but its inclusion is particularly noteworthy given the speculation surrounding Apple's iPhone 16 series.

Rumors suggest that Apple will also introduce a new button below the power button on its next-generation iPhones.

This button is anticipated to have multiple uses for Apple, potentially serving as a dedicated camera shutter or launch button.

There’s also talk that it might support customizable actions, perhaps integrated with Apple’s AI capabilities in the next iOS update.

Interestingly, Nothing’s recent announcement about incorporating ChatGPT into Nothing OS hints that this new button might serve a similar purpose, possibly as a dedicated AI button for quick access to AI-driven features.

It's often noted that Nothing’s designs seem to draw inspiration from Apple.

However, if the Nothing Phone 3 hits the market before the iPhone 16, this might be the year Nothing gets to flip the script and say, “Who’s copying who now?”

At present, specifics about the Nothing Phone 3 are scant, but expectations are high for a powerful Snapdragon 8-series chip, upgrades to the distinctive Glyph LED lights, and a refined overall user experience.

The timing of Pei’s tweets appears calculated to build excitement, suggesting that the Phone 3 launch could be on the horizon.
