Jake Paul Beat Nate Diaz in Epic Boxing Match

Jake Paul defeats Nate Diaz by unanimous decision in an entertaining boxing match

Jake Paul, the social media star turned professional boxer, added another win to his record by defeating Nate Diaz, the UFC veteran and fan favorite, by unanimous decision on Saturday night at the American Airlines Center in Dallas.

The fight, which was billed as Ready 4 War, was Paul’s eighth professional boxing bout and Diaz’s first.

The fight was a 10-round cruiserweight contest that saw both fighters exchange punches and taunts throughout. Paul, who had a significant height and reach advantage over Diaz, used his jab and straight right hand to keep Diaz at bay and score points.

Diaz, who had a huge experience edge over Paul in MMA, tried to close the distance and land his signature left hook and body shots.

The fight was competitive and entertaining, as both fighters showed their toughness and resilience. Paul landed more punches and power shots, but Diaz absorbed them and kept coming forward.

Diaz landed some clean shots of his own, but Paul shook them off and fired back. The crowd, which was mostly pro-Diaz, cheered and booed every action and reaction.

The most dramatic moment of the fight came in the fifth round when Paul dropped Diaz with a right uppercut that stunned him. Diaz managed to beat the count and survive the round, but Paul gained momentum and confidence from that knockdown.

Paul continued to outbox Diaz in the later rounds, while Diaz tried to rally and pressure Paul.

The fight went the distance, and the judges scored it 97-92, 98-91, and 98-91 for Paul. Paul improved his professional boxing record to 7-1 (0-1 against professional boxers), while Diaz lost his pro boxing debut.

Paul also extended his string of victories over MMA fighters. Previously, he beat Ben Askren with a first-round knockout, beat Tyron Woodley by decision and by sixth-round knockout, and beat Anderson Silva by unanimous decision.

After the fight, Paul praised Diaz for his performance and toughness. "He’s real tough,‘’ Paul said of Diaz. “That’s what he’s known for. But tough in this sport doesn’t work.” Paul also said he was sure he’d won the fight on the judges’ cards and thought Diaz won only one round.

“Although he’s a warrior, you know? I had him hurt in the first round, he kept on coming and no one’s taken that much damage,” Paul said.

Diaz also showed respect for Paul after the fight. He congratulated him on his win and said he enjoyed the challenge of boxing. He also said he felt good despite losing and hinted at a possible rematch.

I’m not going to make any excuses. He won fair and square,” Diaz said. “But I’m not done yet. I still have a lot of fights left in me. Maybe we can do it again sometime.”

The fight was a huge success in terms of viewership and revenue. According to Paul, the fight allegedly generated $75 million from pay-per-view sales and live gate receipts.

The fight also attracted many celebrities and athletes who attended or watched the event, such as Mike Tyson, Snoop Dogg, Shaquille O’Neal, LeBron James, Conor McGregor, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Logan Paul, KSI, Jake Gyllenhaal, Megan Fox, Machine Gun Kelly, among others.

The fight also sparked a lot of reactions and discussions on social media platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Reddit, etc.

Many fans and analysts praised both fighters for their skills and courage, while others criticized or mocked them for their flaws and mistakes. Some also debated whether Paul should continue to fight MMA fighters or face professional boxers instead.

The fight also raised some questions about the future of both fighters. For Paul, who bounced back from his first defeat — a loss to Tommy Fury by a split decision in February — the win over Diaz boosted his reputation and popularity as a boxer.

He also proved that he can go 10 rounds with a tough opponent and win convincingly. However, many still doubt his legitimacy as a boxer and want him to face more credible opponents from the boxing world.

For Diaz, who has not fought in MMA since losing to Leon Edwards by unanimous decision in June 2021 at UFC 263 — the loss to Paul did not tarnish his legacy or status as an MMA legend.

He also showed that he can compete in boxing against a bigger and younger opponent and put on a good show for the fans. However, many wonder if he will return to MMA or pursue more boxing matches in the future.

Regardless of what happens next for both fighters, Jake Paul vs Nate Diaz was a memorable event that delivered entertainment and excitement for millions of fans around the world.
